Our coach driver Ciril. Great tour guide, gave us a fun running commentary on everything. He drove on the left shoulder a lot, to let cars behind us pass around Rangiriri for morning tea for the bus. "Boundary Mark" - geological survey mark? In the pavement of a parking lot. For Keith & Ann, it's here We're looking forward to the Wolber Farmstay - private suite - check, home cooking - check, pool... hmmm we'll skip that.

Commemoration of a huge battle here between the native Maori and the invading British. To the left, many grave sites To the right, the hill mass grave mentioned on the sign. Then we headed on to the Waitomo Caves.

At the exit to the Waitomo Caves - no cameras allowed inside You walk inside, down steps to the depths of the cave, where a river runs through the bottom of it. Then a 3-minute boat tour along the river to the exit. Here the boat behind ours emerges The outside of the cave is very humid, lots of ferns and moss

Landmark of the big apple (with a bite out of it) at the lunch cafe just outside Waitomo Caves. Good food! Buffet for most everything, we also had the "bbq" -- generic term for anything cooked on a grill Across the road, typical hills & dales of this area. Very green - it's been raining a lot.
