Here is our whale watching boat. It was a very fast and powerful boat. The boat had all of the high tech gadgets and included visual aids. Info on whales, and a real time image of our position in simulated 3D was shown and that was pretty cool. Quite informative! One of the sister ships. Another group also whale watching. Thar be whales! Sue and Fran at the front of the boat.

We hadn't known before that the whale only lifts up its tail when it is about to dive. When the whale is on the surface, resting and re-filling with oxygen for the next feeding trip, it's just hanging out. Its back fin near the tail and the top of the head with the blowhole is all you can see while its on the surface.

So impressive! This was our fourth whale. The crew said the average is one or two. If you don't see any they'll refund your fee. We were amazed to have seen two, then three, then four!! Turned out the fourth one was the same whale as the first one, but we couldn't tell. The airfield where we flew from yesterday.

A pod of dusky dolphins. Since we'd seen 4 whales and had extra time still, the crew took us closer into shore to see dolphins too. Fran and Sue watching dolphins A dusky dolphin jumps into the air. I could have watched them forever.

They really do leap and flip, though of course we didn't have the timing right on the pictures to catch many of such antics. Caught the splash as one landed after a flip.

They came right up to our boat Just amazing. The crew said they live twice as long in the wild as in captivity.
