The Auckland Skytower We climbed up the tower a little higher than most. the circle is where we climbed up to. Down next to the Artist's Palette, choking fumes and too much steam to see much from down here Redwood trees (think California) were planted here in the 1930's. The mild humid climate makes them grow twice as fast here as in California.

Rainbow trout in the creek at the nature reserve. Looks like the shell is sunken into the rock - like the mollusc has dug a depression into the rock. Punting on the Avon. More English then England itself. Ain't the colors grand? The undersides of the petals were really white

Looking at the second "swingbridge" we cross at Mt. Cook. Posing in front of Kakahi falls Bob in front of a homesite in the buried village another little waterfall further down Looking upstream on the Waikato River. Furthest away, the top of the river is calm blue/green, flowing deep and slow.

Our ferry boat from Wellington in the north island to Picton in the south island. The beach (Pacific Ocean) where we stayed in Kekerengu. A cold and overcast day but still pretty. Pretty water colors as we drive into Kaikoura for the day. Flying over Kaikoura. Clearly a peninsula from this viewpoint.

We hadn't known before that the whale only lifts up its tail when it is about to dive. They really do leap and flip, though of course we didn't have the timing right on the pictures to catch many of such antics. Sue with penguins! Well, stuffed ones anyways. My (Sue's) hand feeding a giraffe. What fun!

Looking down the steps - a very close, winding stair for much of the climb of the Cathedral spire. Another beautiful vista of Lake Tekapo. Sue with Lake Tekapo in the background. This church is one of the most photographed spots in the country. One step forward, get pushed one step sideways.

Back on the trail, crossing another bench-type stile. Sue thinks this is an interesting style of stile (did George say something?). Lake Pukaki Bob & Sue, glad we'd brought warm coats Woo-Hoo! Icebergs! Bob picks up a piece of an iceberg

Bob & Sue as we start the hike. About half an hour later, we arrive at the lake. Next short side trail is a gorgeous view of Lake Mueller. From the middle of the bridge, looking upstream. Proof that Sue can stand on a suspension bridge. No hands! The bridge is a ways above the water. We think the "Vertigo" Sky Tower climb may have cured most of Sue's fear of heights.

Mt Cook on the left side, light blue Lake Pukaki on the right. Just to the right of the wingtip is dark blue Lake Tekapo. Close-up of Mout Cook out the airplane window as we fly out.
